About the Item

A stunning, fine and impressive vintage Portuguese 4.85 carat star ruby and 0.30 carat diamond platinum dress ring; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections This stunning, fine and impressive vintage ruby cluster ring has been crafted in platinum. The pierced decorated millegrain setting displays an impressive feature four-claw set 4.85ct cabochon cut star ruby to the centre of the design. The feature ruby is flanked on either side with three baguette cut diamonds, in addition to an individually collet set baguette cut diamond to the upper and lower portions. The Art Deco setting is further ornamented with ten eight-cut diamonds, completing the design. The tapering shoulders integrate with the main setting and blend seamlessly with the hallmarked ring shank. The ring is hallmarked to the exterior of the shank with Portuguese domestic platinum mark* (parrot's head, minimum 850 standard) and the Lisbon import mark (pelican). This impressive Art Deco ring is supplied with an independent diamond and gemstone grading report card. NOTE: * The nature of the hallmark surround, in addition to the import mark, determines that the piece was processed in the Lisbon Assay Office. The parrot mark was used between 1985-1998; this in addition to the composition of the ring determine it to be crafted circa 1990. Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone. Condition This impressive vintage ring is excellent quality, set with an impressive star ruby displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence. The supporting diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance. There are some surface blemishes to the ruby, as to be expected in keeping with age. The ring is an excellent gauge of platinum and is in excellent condition, with very clear hallmarks to the exterior surface of the shank. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of vintage star ruby diamond ring in platinum.
