  • Abstract Triptych -- "What Came Up Through the Trees"
    Located in Soquel, CA
Stunning triptych of abstract compositions by Vivian Wolovitz (American, 20th Century). Heavily textured and multi-layered piece with lots of depth. Signed "WOLOVITZ" in the lower right corner. Gallery Exhibition label from Jessica Berwind Gallery on verso with name, title, date, media, and size information. Presented on a blue mat in a silver and black frame, with glass. Image size: 12.75"H x 26.24"W (at tallest and widest points). Vivian Wolovitz (American, 20th Century) is an artist and teacher who lives in Philadelphia, PA. The images for Vivian Wolovitz's paintings are derived from landscape and natural phenomenon. She is intensely involved with process and materials. The surfaces of the paintings are created through multiple layers of oil paint to evoke luminous and atmospheric yet physically concrete spaces. The layers are constructed and built upon, while scoring and scraping reveal the depths from below. A surface is created that is textural and complex and tells a tale of many paths taken.
