Small Georgian Mahogany Sofa Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Very Good Quality George III Period Mahogany Sofa Table, Of Rare Diminutive Proportions, Having Well Figured Rectangular Top Having Drop Flap To Each End, Over One Long Drawer & One False Drawer To Reverse With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Square End Supports With Elegant High Stretcher And Four Sabre Legs Terminating On Original Brass Castors. This chamring little sofa table is of really unusual size, the kind of proportions which we have rarely come across before, but those proportions are absolutely great for both function and elegance. It is just about small enough to not dominate the centre of a room, or even to just tuck into a corner, whilst at the same time retaining a little presence. Its constructed from good quality mahogany timbers and instead of the two drawers at the front which is more commonly found on its full size counterparts it has just one elongated drawer and of course another false drawer to the reverse. Sofa tables were relatively commonly found throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and as the name suggests they were originally designed to sit behind a sofa, although a common misconception is that they were meant to butt right up against the sofa itself. Actually they were normally designed to sit a few feet away from the sofa, hence the false drawers on reverse. That said they also look quite happy pushed right up against the back of a sofa and are such useful, versatile items of furniture. As with all of our items this georgian mahogany sofa table...

Large 19th Century Flemish Ripple Cushion Mirror
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
An Exceptional Quality And Unusually Large Mid 19th Century Flemish Ebonised And Brass Repousse, Ripple Cushion, Marginal Mirror, Of Rectangular Form, Having Large Central Bevelled Mirror Plate Surrounded By Foliate Borders And Further Mirror Plates. The term Flemish refers to antique furniture and accessories made in the Northern European region of Flanders, no more commonly known as Belgium and The Netherlands. This mirror is of typical design and style for many we have seen in that region, however the scale of it is extremely unusual and a really spectacular feature, we have certainly never seen one this large. Its also worth noting that this mirror could easily be hung landscape, as well as in the portrait perspective which it has been photographed as the 4 sides are all of the same design with no definied top and bottom. Overall the condition is very good, with just a few old cosmetic...

Small 19th Century Camphor Wood Campaign Trunk
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Delightful Mid 19th Century Camphor Wood Military Campaign Trunk, Of Rare Small Proportions, Having Well Figured Lift Up Lid Enclosing Storage Space, Original Brass Bound Decoration And Original Brass Handles. Its widely accepted that trunks like this were normally purposed for army use, often given into the ownership of high ranking officers to use for their travels around the various battlegrounds and territories of the empire around the world, hence the carrying handles and the brass banded decoration, which also serves the functional purpose of protecting the item from bumps and bashes during the numerous times it would have been transported. In modern day living this trunk would make a perfect coffee table boasting signifcant storage, or could also be used as a storage chest in many locations around the home including the hallway, living room or bedroom. The trunk is also a little smaller than a large amount which yuou will find on the market, which of course allows for it to be used in an even wider variety of spaces. The trunk has also been inspected in our workshops by our expert antique...

Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Very Attractive 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Oval Shaped Open Wine Cooler Retaining Good Colour And Patina, With Original Brass Bound Decoration And Original Brass Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Stand With Square Tapered Legs And Original Brass Castors. It is most unusual for wine coolers of this period to retain their original stand, but that is very much the case with this particular example and the stand itself even retains it's original brass castors at the end its elegant tapered legs. The cooler itself is lacking its original lead liner with its replacement being a smaller, lower in height, removable zinc tray...
