1920's Dresden Enamel Baby-Fine Mesh Handbag on Gilded Frame

Offered for sale is this stunning, Dresden, baby-fine mesh metal bag, enameled in soft muted colors, almost resembling a miniature woven tapestry, with an ornate gilded frame by Whiting & Davis. The bag measures 4" in width by 4 1/2" in height, excluding the kiss clasp. It is lined in silk and is in excellent vintage condition. These bags, created by Whiting & Davis, were called "Dresden" enamels. Other companies tried to imitate the originals but none came close to the fine quality of the mesh or the enamels themselves.
