1950's Shocking Pink Flowered Chapeau by Elsa Schiaparelli

This is a delightful, early 1950's shocking pink flowered chapeau designed by Elsa Schiaparelli. Shocking pink became synonymous with Schiaparelli's colorful personality and she often designed to shock, amuse, and entertain her patrons. The chapeau is covered with five major blossoms and assorted, scattered petals and leaves of silk and velvet. A thin green straw band is interwoven throughout the blooms. The flowers are still vibrant in color. However, a few of the silk petals have faint water marks, which do not in any way detract from the overall design. The label is present and reads Schiaparelli-Paris. Elsa Schiaparelli retired in 1954 and her label has not been used since that time.
