12 TIFFANY & CO Sterling Dinner Plates, Circa 1905

Sold

This magnificent set of 12 Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Dinner Plates is the same pattern as a set made for J.P.Morgan in 1895. The Morgan set is documented in Charles H. Carpenter, Jr.’s book, Tiffany Silver, page 69 figure 86. Apparently, this size plate was used originally as a dinner plate and not as a service plate. The plates are each fully hallmarked with Tiffany & Co.’s makers mark, Pattern #7616, MAKERS, order number, sterling standard mark and the letter “C” for pieces made between 1902 and 1907. Today, this set would serve many uses other than just a set of dinner or even service plates. They could be used for serving canapés or dessert, or used as serving trays for assorted foods on a buffet. This set of Tiffany Dinner Plates would be an added conversation piece to any collection. Weight: 195 Troy Ounces. Diameter: 10 Inches. Condition: Excellent Estate Condition.
