| Loading... Please wait |
Thirteen-star 14 foot wide eagle American ship swallow-tailed pennant flag. An extremely rare surviving example of historic flags used on American ships, this swallow-tailed flag would have flown from the main mast of the ship. Thirteen handsewn cotton muslin stars in a single appliqued arc encircle the handsewn cotton muslin eagle, with an appliqued shield hand-sewn onto its breast. Wool bunting ground. A similar example is illustrated in Sotheby's Important Americna Sale Catalog, October 10, 2002 (Item #99, page 59).
