1850s Cast Brass Foliate Chandelier with Original Gilding & Hand Painted Flowers
About the Item
AHL3841
A vintage twelve light chandelier which retains its original gilded finish, enlivened by arabesques in bright and matte patterns native to the gilding, as well as polychrome foliate and aviary scenes. The fixture takes the form of a large dish with radiating pairs of leafy double arms; between them span foliate garlands. Chain links in a similar pattern suspend the body from a garlanded canopy. The balanced and well-proportioned assemblage is of the highest quality in casting, chasing, and surface. Circa 1850.
