A whimsical and curious ebony and ivory diptych sundial, unmarked, mid 19th century, the octagonal dial with Roman chapters, engraved scroll work around the perimeter, inset latitude adjustment on the underside of the lid for the string gnomon of 37, 39, 41, 43, and 45, central compass with printed paper card, cardinal points in block letters, needle ring calibrated 0-90 in four quadrants, needle stop.
