The geometric patterns and motifs all have a particular significance. This particular dhurry has the geometric flat-woven stripes with an ikat motif. Most likely to have been woven in an Islamic area that is in keeping with the stict rules of non-representation in Islamic art.
The dhurries were woven mainly for the home as floor coverings or bedding. They are woven on a small loom.
