Pair of Leather "Safari" Chairs
Danish "Safari" chair in leather with ash frame.
The hand stitched leather seat and back are secured to this collapsible frame by adjustable leather belts, allowing it to be assembled without the use of tools. The inspiration for these chairs came from an English army officer’s model used in India. Its folding, “knock down” design made it easy for carrying. In 1933, Danish designer Kaare Klint was the first to reinterpret this design after seeing it in a travel guide. The chair was sold in a bag, ready for transport. The safari chair has remained a signature piece of Danish modern design and a wonderful addition to any interior. This pair was crafted in the 1960’s in a quality grade leather, all hand stitched. Chairs made for explorers...the perfect seating to plan and execute all of your upcoming adventures. Sold as a pair.
