    Fabulous vintage Egyptian Revival handmade wood Thebes stool. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The joints have been glued. This is an AWESOME vintage Egyptian Revival handmade wood Thebes stool comprised of a lovely wood frame with lattice bracing under the curved plywood seat, straight legs, and stretchers on all four sides. Simple lines and a unique presence. So… Thebes stools have been around for quite some time!! As a matter of fact, one was discovered in the tomb of King Tutankhamum circa 1400 B.C.!! In the late 19th century, Liberty of London began producing the Egyptian-style stool in flexible-yet-durable plywood as a part of the store's Furnishing & Decorating Studio. Liberty continued manufacturing the stool until approximately 1919 and, since that time, designers have reproduced the style all over the world. I’d say they are here to stay!! As a piece of practical design, the Thebes stool functions as both a seat and an ottoman and will be wonderful in any room of your home! It is Egyptian Revival in style with an Arts & Crafts flair and it’s going to blend in beautifully with your décor! You could use it as is or throw a pillow on top. It’s very versatile and lightweight so it is easily moved from space to space. King Tutankhamum loved his Thebes stool enough to take it to his tomb…. Now, that’s a cool stool...
