'Cinétisme IV (Gold and Blue)' Wall Cabinet by Charles Kalpakian

About the Item

‘Cinétisme IV (Gold and Blue)’ is a hypnotic piece in lacquered wood and wenge that literally reinvents the concept of cabinet and bookshelf. Unexpected and immediately eye-catching in the true sense of the word, ‘Cinétisme IV (Gold and Blue)’ establishes itself like a true functional painting: while capturing the viewer’s gaze, it can be used to welcome books and showcase small objects. ‘Cinétisme IV (Gold and Blue)’ is one of the four contemporary wall cabinets designed for Galerie BSL by French-Lebanese Charles Kalpakian. An outstanding series which flirts with the spirit of Vasarely, and an audacious encounter between science, Street Art and Op art. With a good grounding in street culture, Charles Kalpakian has retained the physical posture of graph to design these limited edition pieces. He also pursues there his exploration of the scientific phenomenon of bistability applied to furniture, or how to shock our brain pathways with an ambiguous image which changes our perspectives by confusing our visual perception. ‘Cinétisme IV’ can be custom-made in any color. Its modularity allows custom-made compositions, potentially covering large walls that make each piece all the more unique. It is a limited edition of 8 + 4 AP per color combination.
