Carved Giltwood George III Styled Eagle Console Table

Of cul-de-lampe form, light in design. With carved and applied decorations, matte and water gilding. Red bole Showing in pretty contrast through the gilding. Wear and use, but what you see in these photos is pretty much what you get. Thick, shaped and molded marble tops. With later gilded floor plinths ( see photo numbers 19 and 20,last photos ). The plinths are used by museums and collectors to protect from damage of wet mops and brooms. They are not original, probably 20th mid-century. The consoles do not require their use, so optional, adds two inches to height ( to 33 inches )however, an unintended Plus. Faded ink stamp ‘ France ‘ Losses, repairs, touchups throughout mostly to legs. Overall with typical old world dirt and grime ( dust, coal burning residue, gas fumes etc.) more heavy towards the bottoms. Both marbles in very good shape, no losses of note, no noticed repairs to either marble. Diminutive sizing . General time, use, wear and losses to the decoration throughout. George III style giltwood and Marble console table A handsome and authentic looking reproduction. Giltwood frame with fluted, tapered legs, Greek key apron, and rosette corners. Marble top sitting on top. Condition: Very minor nicks to the edges of the marble top with scuffing and old repairs filled with putty. Structurally sound. Some minor nicks to gilt on legs and apron.
