Incredible Pair 1960s Louis XVI Style Arm Chairs USA1963 These chairs are a twentieth-century interpretation of a classic Louis XVI fauteuil. They are carved with rather distinctive flourishes. The finish is a rusticated ivory glaze over wood, and they are upholstered in a lavender twill fabric. The original owner, an ASID member, states that when she purchased them in 1963, they had tags denoting them as a Dorothy Draper design, but that the tags were lost in a subsequent reupholstering. We have been unable to independently confirm this attribution, but these chairs are terrific, regardless.
