About the Item
Hamish MacPherson: Born 1915. Sculptor, industrial designer and teacher, born in Hartlepool, County Durham, but educated in New Zealand, where he attended Elam School of Art, 1930-2, then in London studied at Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1934-9. Macpherson taught for periods at Central School and at Sir John Cass School of Art between 1948-53. He was an associate of RBS. Macpherson completed work for British pavilion at Paris Exhibition of 1937, also for Festival of Britain in 1951. Showed with LG, NS and abroad and had a number of solo exhibitions. Lived latterly in Monmouth, Gwent.
