FABERGÉ Silver and Enamel Tea Caddy
About the Item
This piece is exceptional compared to any other silver and enamel tea caddies that Fabergé produced due to a number of factors. Not only is it absolutely monstrous in size at 7 7/8" tall as compared to the typical 4-6" height of the vast majority of Russian tea caddies, it is also a singular showcase of Fabergé's masterful embracing and execution of Russian art nouveau or "Stil Moderne" as it was known in Russian at the time when this became a focal point of the arts in Moscow circa 1908-1917. Many objects were made in the "Moderne" style, but no others that I'm aware of embody it as well as this piece does.
