About the Item

The work is an original photo-lithograph by Lucio Fontana, signed and numbered in pencil at lower right, accompanied by a booklet containing six full-page black-and-white offset plates. The book "Le Six comptes de La Fontaine" comes with an original box. The edition is a limited edition of 170 copies, numbered I to XX, and 1 to 150. The print is numbered No. 63/150. Note that the book is filled with beautifully executed drawings by Lucion Fontana, which fully enrich the edition with images from Fontana's spatialist research. The piece is accompanied by a certification of authenticity issued by a gallery. The condition of the piece is mostly perfect: no traces of time and no scratches or damage to the edges. The piece travels unframed so as to have cheaper and safer shipping. Edition 63/150 - 6,500 euro Lucio Fontana is famous for his slashed and pierced canvases. In all his works-which include paintings, ceramic sculptures and light installations-the artist has demonstrated an unrelenting interest in surface and dimensionality; his material explorations have helped blur the boundaries between 2D and 3D disciplines. Fontana helped create the Spatialist movement, which sought to integrate the fourth dimension into visual art. He studied under his father, an Italian sculptor, before attending the Brera Academy in Milan. His works have been exhibited in New York, Milan, Zurich, London, Berlin and Rome and are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Reina Sofía Museum and the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, among others. Fontana's innovative theories foreshadowed later developments in environmental art, performance art, and Arte Povera.
