This is a typical and charming late 19th Century French impressionist oil painting of a woman reading on the bank of a river. This lively landscape interpretation has been deftly applied on a canvas board by the artist using a small couteau and brushes. Some areas of elevation created with impasto thickened oils and dashes of paint give this painting animation.
