Manufactured by Fango. Colombia, 2023 Yaré fiber and metal structure. Measurements 42 x 42 x 47h cm 16,5 x 16,5 x 18,5h in Provenance Fango Studio, Medellín, Colombia. Exhibitions Casavells 2023. Concept The Ibuju collection projects the synergy of designing and storytelling, an essential intention of Fango’s creative director, Francisco Jaramillo. The series stems from concern over the indiscriminate logging and overuse of the native woods from the endangered green lung of planet earth, the Amazon, a jungle increasingly fading from the world. Looking for alternatives to build functional furniture in native materials, Jaramillo and the weavers of Fango discovered the renewable Yaré fiber. Yaré is a fiber commonly called “vine", a root that grows around the trunks of trees in the Colombian Amazon. These fibers are used by local indigenous communities in southern Colombia for handcrafted weaving, which inspired Jaramillo to translate the native aesthetics and geometries of primitive wooden...

Organic Modern Sculptural Side Table in Sustainable Ancient Matai Wood
By Tréology
Located in Papanui, Christchurch
The Emerge side table is a modern organic form made from ancient matai trees (a native timber of New Zealand) that have fallen naturally into rivers and preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes them. We rescue these trees from the river and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, has been carbon dated at over 1500 years old. A sculptural shape made from individual pieces of matai wood formed together to make a patch work grain pattern. The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life. Diameter 13.75” x H 15.75” Diameter 350mm x H 400mm Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand. Wood: Ancient river rescued matai wood Finish: Natural Low VOC Oil Customization of wood finish available by request. About Treology Sustainability We rescue trees from rivers in the wilderness of New Zealand and craft them into beautiful objects that merge the line between luxury furniture & functional art. We love connecting people to nature through our sustainably sourced wood. Heritage Our company is built on our 150-year family heritage of luxury craftsmanship. We love collaborating with like-minded people who share our values of guardianship, sustainability and craftsmanship. Craftsmanship Craftsmanship is a quality that defines a Treology piece.
