Sergio Asti pair of Model B464 glass & brass wall lights by Candle, Italy 1960s

About the Item

Group of four brass wall lamps, glass, designed by Sergio Asti, model b464, produced by Candle, Italy, 1960. Offered in two sets of two lamps each. A delicate shaded glass sphere showcases the meticulous design of a series of wall lamps designed by Sergio Asti around the Sixties. Reflecting the pinnacle of Italian style of the era, these lamps combine two materials: glass and brass. The original glass sphere, untouched since its creation, is appreciated for its subtle gradations that are accentuated and admired by the light. The brass stem, reminiscent of a lightning bolt, extends from the wall like an electric surge, designed to support the glass diffuser without concealing the electrical components that facilitate the lamp's illumination. It's a deliberate aesthetic choice, emphasizing the seamless integration of formal design with its technical components. This has been a consistent theme of reflection that Asti pursued throughout his career. The Milanese architect, recently deceased, seamlessly combined design work with theoretical discourse, sought-after lecturer, and member of juries for prestigious international architecture competitions. In the history of Italian design, he occupies a significant place due to his thoughtful considerations on the role of industrial design in consumer objects, a theme that finds its expression even in this group of wall lamps. The lamps, identified by catalog number b464, are manufactured by the Italian brand Candle and perfectly encapsulate Sergio Asti's design ethos. The lamps are offered in working condition and in excellent original condition. Dimensions: 41H x 23W x 28D cm
