Art Deco Pair of Pelican Figure Bookends in Hand Carved Woods, circa 1930
About the Item
These are a good pair of Art Deco period, Book ends of two Pelicans hand carved in wood.
Each stylised pelican has been well hand carved in a dark hardwood and stands on a base frame of a lighter contrasting wood, all with a hand polished finish, showing the differences in the grain.
We think this piece is probably a unique piece of folk art, probably made by a joiner as a gift.
Each bookend weighs just over 200gram unpacked.
We date these pieces to the early mid-20th century, circa 1930.
