What is pottery made of?
1 Answer
Pottery is made of ceramic materials that are shaped, worked and then fired at high temperatures. There are three main types of materials for this process: earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Earthenware is a porous material made of baked clay and often glazed, while stoneware is a water- and heat-resistant material that comes in an array of colors. Fired at a very high temperature, porcelain is very hard and has a glass-like texture and appearance. Explore a diverse assortment of pottery on 1stDibs.
