PROVENANCE Private Collector, Madrid Enrique Atalaya (Murcia, 1851 - Paris 1913) was a spanish painter, who preferably cultivated genre scenes. He began his training in Madrid with Germán Hernández Amores, of whom he was a disciple. He participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1876 with two works, An unloading of mule in Murcia and Los comicos de la league. Perhaps the most significant of this painter was his research in the field of pictorial techniques, since he devised a procedure to paint on the most varied supports, without the need for the use of varnishes, rubbers or oils. Much of his artistic production is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Murcia.
