About the Item
'Grand Prix Racer II', French School, oil on board (circa 1960s). The 'good ole' days' of Formula One (or Grand Prix) racing are depicted in this thrilling mid-century oil painting (second in the series). This racing car is most likely a Bugatti, T51, which emerged in 1931. A victory in the 1931 French Grand Prix was a rare case of success for this line of cars. Later in motorsports, the Formula 1 was the premier single seater racing category in worldwide racing having started in 1947. This new 'International Formula' was initially known variously as Formula A or Formula 1. You can have this original piece of motorsport history in your home or office. Acquired in the South of France. In fair vintage condition commensurate with age. Newly framed with linen slip. Initialed but illegible (may be 'LP' for Louis Petit). Upon request a video of the artwork will be provided.

Two women in black headscarves are the focus of the scene, with very captivating expressions. The woman on the right appears to look almost shocked, with her mouth ajar and her eyes widened. The woman on the left stares directly at us, her emotion less identifiable. The scene is intriguing, making us question what these women have heard or what has happened. Their faces have been painted with brilliant detail, capturing the shadows on their faces as well as the aged skin of the woman on the right. These two women are set against a blue-ish green backdrop, making their faces stand out even more from within their black head scarves...Category

At the age of seven he immigrated with his family to the United States, settling in New York City. It was on the boat coming to New York where Tromka first became interested in art.
