About the Item

An observing black dog is captured against a yellow and red Coca-Cola sign in Guaymas, Mexico. Shot in 1970, Mitchell Funk was innovating in color photography, which is what many color-field and minimalist artists were doing with paint on canvas. He created an image characterized by large, primarily flat areas of punchy color that emphasized spatial and color relationships. The uploaded video is a little light, so use the still images for color references. The image was taken 54 years ago and looks surprisingly contemporary. This archival color photograph by fine art photographer Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 3/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Color will vary slightly from monitor to monitor. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography." In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 He was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum.
