"A Song for a Nesei Fisherman" Poster, Limited Edition Screenprint #14 of 100 Show poster designed by Chester Yoshida (American, b. 1922). The play "A Song for a Nisei Fisherman" was written by Philip Tan Gotanda and directed by David Henry Hwong, presented by the Asian American Theatre Company at the Marina Theater. A fisherman stands with his fishing pole and a large fish that he has just caught. There is a dog next to him, slightly behind. They are shown as cut outs from the all black background, a clever use of negative space by Yoshida. In the upper right corner, a hand reaches down at the man, also cut out from the background, allowing the newsprint behind to show through. The title of the play appeears in red lettering on a banner along the left edge, with details about the play above and below. Numbered, titled, signed, and dated in pencil, along the bottom edge: 14/100 Fisherman Yoshida '80 Presented in a new grey mat with foamcore backing.
