Dan Mehlman
Linocut Print -- Guarding Maillol

2002

About the Item

This linocut printed on paper presents a museum guard observing a large sculpture of a woman, in this case, a version of a Maillol sculpture. The version in this linocut is likely based on Aristide Maillol, a French sculptor whose 1905 bronze sculpture "La Mediterranee" actually resides in the Tuilleries Garden in Paris. This is a limited edition print, signed by the artist in front. Dan Mehlman is a sculptor who works with ceramics, model making, and print making. He obtained a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from California State University at Fullerton. He maintains an active studio in Delmar, NY, and has collaborated with brands such as Dansk, Steuben, Baccarat, and Waterworks.
