About the Item
"Concertina" by contemporary American artist Tony Bass is an etching on paper representing two human figures, a sitting female singing and playing what appears to be an accordion while the a second male figure watches while playing a string instrument. The limited edition etching is numbered 1 out of a total of 35. The artwork is matted with a liner, under glass and framed with the artist's signature in pencil on the lower right.
Born in Texas in 1943 Tony Bass received his Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas. He later became an instructor at the University of North Texas and St. Edward’s University, while also creating increasingly complex images in the printmaking medium. After spending a year in Paris, working on a series of etchings for a French publishing company, he returned to Dallas. For the next twelve years he explored new mediums including watercolor, sculpture, and mixed media. All the while his fluid imagery remained in the more figurative realm. As his work evolved to oil on canvas, he shed his figurative ties for a more abstract, intuitive direction, which he is now pursuing with great enthusiasm. Mr. Bass has had over 25 one-man shows throughout the last 30 years and is included in numerous corporate and private collections in both the United States and Europe.

Tony Bass
Born in Texas, in 1943, Tony Bass is an American contemporary artist who received his bachelor and master of fine arts degrees from the University of Texas. He later became an instructor at the University of North Texas and St. Edward’s University, while also creating increasingly complex images in the printmaking medium. After spending a year in Paris, working on a series of etchings for a French publishing company, he returned to Dallas. For the next 12 years, Tony explored new mediums, including watercolor, sculpture and mixed media. All the while, his fluid imagery remained in the more figurative realm. As his work evolved to oil on canvas, he shed his figurative ties for a more abstract and intuitive direction, which he is now pursuing with great enthusiasm. He has over 25 one-man shows throughout the last 30 years and is included, in numerous corporate and private collections, in both the United States and Europe.
