Charlie Davies
Charlie Davies is a painter, printmaker, designer and jeweller. She grew up in Oxford and originally trained as a textile designer. Now she lives in Didcot with her husband and two children. She divides her time between painting, printmaking and silver-smithing. Her textile designs have been exhibited and sold at trade fairs in Frankfurt and New York and to major retailers in the UK. Davies has regularly exhibited her paintings and etchings in local exhibitions, at Oxford University Museum of Natural History, Oxford Town Hall, the O3 gallery and also has a selection of work available online. She loves painting seascapes, still-lifes and flowers. In 2010 she won The People’s Choice Award for her painting of the Didcot Towers called I’ll miss us when we’re gone!. Following that success, she began to paint local landscapes. Wittenham Clumps is her real favorite. In 2016 she decided to do an introductory etching course at the Oxford Printmakers, to help develop her printmaking skills. Charlie Davies loved it and joined OPC soon after. 2018 was a big year for her and she exhibited with Oxford Printmakers at their 40th-anniversary exhibition and three Oxfordshire Artweeks exhibitions. She won her second People’s Choice Award at the Chester Arts Fair, her work was also accepted at the Chelsea Art Society open exhibition and some of her works was published in The Oxford Art Book. Since then Charlie Davies has exhibited twice at the Affordable Art Fair and been accepted to several open exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and Society of Botanical Artists.

- Helen Fay, What’s That?, Penguin Art, Affordable Art, Limited Edition PrintLocated in Deddington, GBWhat’s That? by Helen Fay [2012] Limited Edition Etching , hand printed on Hanemulle etching paper Edition number edition size 75 Image size: H:21 cm x W:18 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:45 cm x W:30 cm x D:.15cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Original Print, hand made and hand printed by the artist. A gentoo penguin, standing wings out, her attention just grabbed by something. The light is just catching her soft chest feathers. The etching captures the tactile softness of the feathers. Animals have always been at the heart of my work. I find the form, movement and behaviour of the creatures I draw a source of limitless fascination. I love the idea of them watching me, watching them as I draw. I hope my appreciation of the sentience and character of the animals I draw comes across in my work. Over my career I have drawn everything from primates to penguins, dogs, ostriches and even an echidna. These days dogs are my main focus, mostly because I adore dogs but also because they are such an integral part of life. I am delighted by the theory that humans and dogs co evolved, we wouldn’t be what we are without them and vice versa. I try to pare my images down to a balanced simplicity that directs attention to the subject of the picture. I try to balance the subject and the space it occupies, giving each equal importance. Light is hugely important to my work, I imagine my subject in three dimensions as I draw and the light describes the musculature and texture that gives the drawing it’s presence and grounds it in the picture. I aim to capture a pause, a moment where whatever I draw looks like it could wander off or leap up any minute. My influences include Japanese prints, Chinese and Japanese brush drawing and the European artists who were influenced by Japan. I am really excited by composition, by artists like Bonnard and Leon Spilliaert...Category

- Tim Southalll, Mudlarking, Affordable Limited Editon Landscape PrintBy Tim SouthallLocated in Deddington, GBMudlarking By Tim Southall [2021] Limited Edition Etching Image size: H:15 cm x W:20 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:25 cm x W:30 cm x D:0.01cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look At low tide on a stormy day in London, people rummage around in the muddy shores of the River Thames. Dominating the scene is the formidable Tower Bridge. These ‘mudlarkers’ are searching for scraps and broken bits of history - rummaging in the muddy shore of the river. Who knows what treasures will be discovered. Originally a mudlark was someone who scavenged in river mud for items of value, a term used especially to describe those who scavenged this way in London during the late 18th and 19th centuries. The practice of searching the banks of rivers for items continues in the modern era, with newer technology such as metal detectors...Category
