Mary Mattingly, Primary Mend, 2024, Textile sculpture, ø cm 60 State of Preservation: Great. Mostre: - Swerving the Apocalyptic Angle into Hope, curated by S. Cagol, with Stefano Cagol, Mary Mattingly, PSJM, at Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting, Milan, February 14 through March 30, 2024. Provenance: Artist. Mary Mattingly, whose research was called "optimistic" by the New York Times, when a his work prompted the city of New York to establish the first edible public park in this metropolis. The artist's work addresses future climate crises by attempting to make the environment urban a better place to live right now, continues the New York Times. On display is photographic work from the series House and Universe (2013), among his most famous, published on the cover of the book Art in the Anthropocene. Encounters Among Aesthetics, Politics, Environments and Epistemologies. "My work proposes a world brought back to nomadic roots by following a peripatetic population constantly on the move. It is expected that in the near future, most of the world population will be forced to be nomadic. I focus on creating environments wearables and autonomous living/travel systems, based on engineering and science and fused with the imagination."
