Morgan Robinson
Morgan Robinson says, “I attempt to stay clear of the mundane by taking a closer look at the things that can do nothing else but encompass my sight. Unable to ignore organic language, I follow the indigenous bends in pieces of nature. There is no part of my environment too obscure to inspire. Refracted light and shadows overlapping as well as elements that can be held in your hand or seen with a magnifying glass – they all hold purpose and contain beauty. The beauty perceived is what suggests a more insightful, more meaningful spirituality. The meaning projects out of imagination and undeniable existence, and attraction is seen from a vast array of perspectives. My works are inspired by the potential in organic shapes that surround us in our daily lives. Whether we acknowledge the potential or not can be a conscious choice. Typically these shapes, in their actual forms, are disregarded as uninteresting or useless. These shapes come in the form of shadows, branches, reflections, stains, liquids, cells, nerves, bones, scars, horns, postures, fruit, vegetables, insects, clouds, rocks, moss, texture in walls & ceilings, just to name a few. Once an intriguing shape captures my attention, I record it in a sketch and play its potential with my imagination to work into a sculpture or furniture piece. Eventually, I express the shape to be realized, with wood and metal in such a way that chords a feeling in which words cannot touch.”

- The Stars Are For Everyone IIBy Heidi SpectorLocated in Montreal, QuebecHeidi Spector is a geometric artist best known for her exploration of minimalism as studied through lines, repetition, color and reflection. Spector’s work has been the subject of numerous solo and group shows including exhibitions in Montreal, London, Paris, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and New York. Her work is included in several corporate, private and museum collections worldwide. Her paintings and sculptural cubes composed of acrylic painted as bands of color on Russian birch, are topped with resin, creating a surface where candy-like colors pulse and dance together, alluding to the impact of popular music on her work. Referred to by the artist as “geometric minimalism,” Spector purposefully avoids injecting specific emotional content to her paintings, instead opting for bold color choices that quickly establish an upbeat and lively mood. Her shining repetitive pattern of vertical or horizontal stripes project a natural sense of optimism and joy informed by the techno beats and self-absorption of club life. Spector’s paintings are influenced by popular music, taking on titles based on song lyrics by artists as varied as Duke Ellington, Roxy Music...Category
