Leon Bronstein
I Am So Proud to Know That You Are Mine, Bronze

About the Item

"I Am So Proud to Know That You Are Mine" is a bronze sculpture. The work is signed and numbered by the artist. Leon Bronstein's work is intimate, elegant and graceful. A sculptor of remarkable talent, he explores the power and beauty of relationships, magically transforming the human figure into fluid shapes. 1980 was for him a new beginning: finding a new path in life - transforming from technician to talented sculptor. Expanding his artistry from carving wood to casting bronze, his determination to express freedom fuels his creative power. The whole of his development as a sculptor is an attempt to understand and realize more completely what form and shape are about, and to react to form in life. An engineer and watchmaker by trade, Bronstein's vivid and active imagination ripened and evolved as he sought freedom with his family, away from the constraints of the familiar culture of his birth. Bronstein, like many seekers, discovered within himself a source of strength and creative power that would generate an artistic vocation inspired with determination to express a reach for freedom. The year was 1979; Bronstein could not find a job as either an engineer or watchmaker. Knowing he could work with tools and had molded clay and carved wood as a child, Bronstein began making small sculptures. Inspired by the beautiful grain of a lone piece of olive wood he happened upon, Bronstein fashioned a small figure at a wood shop in the Old City Caesarea in Israel. This statue was so well received by the local shopkeeper that Bronstein's new artistic direction was charted.
