About the Item
Piccola terracotta a soggetto mitologico firmata sul retro sulla base "Zambini", che per la grafia (in particolare la Z che ricorda una F) permette di identificare l'artista con Ferrante Zambini, plasticatore e scultore emiliano formatosi presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti a Firenze, molto prolifico e richiesto nei primi decenni del Novecento.
Di soggetto mitologico, raffigurante due fanciulle-probabilmente due ninfe-nude con un cigno che teneramente allunga la testa verso una di esse, rientra pienamente nella tipologia di opere dai rimandi antichi di cui l'artista era un maestro, al punto che alcune sue terrecotte furono acquisite da musei stranieri (Parigi e Vienna) confuse per vere opere del Rinascimento italiano. Da notare la superficie liscia e finemente plasmata, la cui modernità si nota soprattutto nel modo in cui è lavorata la materia nelle parti non visibili.
