Japanese antique wooden small Buddha statue/1800s/Jizo Bodhisattva
About the Item
This is a wooden Buddha statue made in the late Edo period (1800s) in Japan.
The size is small enough to hold in one hand.
However, the carvings are carefully carved and the facial expressions and kimono expressions are beautiful.
The word "Jōtsu" is written on the back, which is probably the name of the Buddhist sculptor.
However, his detailed history was not known.
This is Jizo Bodhisattva, who looks like a monk who has become a monk.
He is usually seen holding a jewel in his left hand and a staff in his right hand.
However, this Buddha statue seems to have lost the cane in his right hand.
I believe there was originally a pedestal, but those have also been lost.
Although many things have been lost, the main body remains to this day.
That is wonderful.
This Buddha statue can stand on its own, so you can display it as is.
This is a recommended Buddha statue.
I also want as many people as possible to know the quality of antiques, so I keep my prices reasonable.
Why not brag about it to your friends?
