English 19th century matched pair of brass watering cans from a London Hotel
About the Item
This very decorative matched pair of country house type brass watering cans, one is a five pint and the other is a six pint, are both beautifully made in solid sheet brass. The larger one has a maker stamp on its underside for Williamson and Sons of Worcester. The watering cans also have matching brass labels on their tops with the words The Langham.
The Langham is a large famous quality Victorian hotel in London.
The cans are labelled to identify them as the property of the hotel and would have been used by staff members for watering flowers or potted plants around the establishment. Both pieces have had some solder repairs over the years but are generally in good condition.
English circa 1900.

- 19th century pair of horticultural Black Forest figures, circa 1850Located in Central England, GB19th Century Pair of Antique Horticultural Black Forest Figures These very fine examples are of exhibition quality. Their scale, modelling, and superb artistry of carving are rare and difficult to find on the open market. They depict two rural figures and are of a large scale. The first is an 18th century male gardener dressed in typical European costume walking through trees and foliage whilst pushing a rustic wheelbarrow into which he is collecting cut flowers. The second figure in this remarkable pair is a flower girl who is also dressed in a typical period style, and she is carrying an assortment of woven baskets that are full of cut flowers. She is on her way to the market to set out her stall and sell her wares. She is depicted on a rural hillside heavily laden and carrying a tall stick...Category

- 19th Century Carved Oak Study of St. Paul the Apostle, English, circa 1860Located in Central England, GBThis remarkable and very finely carved study of the biblical figure of St Paul, The Apostle who was originally Saul of Tarsus born BCE. Tarsus in Cilicia (now in Turkey). He died circa 62 – 64 CE in Rome, Italy. He was one of the leaders of the first generation Christians and was often considered to be the most important person after Jesus in the history of Christianity. This highly accomplished wood carving is a difficult material for detailing English oak. It shows him standing barefoot and dressed in simple robes with a sword in one hand and a scroll in the other. His face has been well captured with a good expression, detailed hair and a long beard. The small scale of this figure would indicate it was not originally church decoration...Category
