About the Item

This work is sure to give aesthetic pleasure for years to come and would be an amazing addition to any Natzler or modern ceramic collection or setting.
Signed with their customary "Natzler" signature on the underside.
Otto Natzler was born in Vienna, Austria and immigrated with his wife Gertrud to America at the advent of WW II. They settled in Los Angeles where they began a ceramics studio. Their now well-documented collaboration lasted over thirty years until Gertrud's death in 1971. Gertrud threw the clay and formed it, while Otto glazed and fired the vessels. Their works are often distinguished by the varied glazes and surfaces. Otto, who was well known for meticulously testing each glaze, applied the glazes with great consideration of the clay form with which it is married to. Otto continued his career after his wife's passing for another 35 years until his own death at the age of 99.

- Moroccan Berber Tamgroute Terracotta Green Glazed BowlBy Berber Tribes of MoroccoLocated in North Hollywood, CALarge heavy Moroccan Tamgroute Tribal green terracotta glazed bowl. Very large avocado green glazed earthenware bowl from Morocco. Antique Moroccan Berber Tamgroute green glazed decorative terra cotta large decorative bowl. Wonderful green and brown shimmering that can be found only in south Morocco in the village of Tamgroute. The dark green color and texture is a result of the particular alchemy created by the potters of Tamegroute and remains a family affair handed down through the generations. Each pottery piece is completely unique and no two are ever the same. Please note that the traditional method in which the plates are fired involves stacking which result in tiny ‘scars’ inside the plate and in the glaze making, each bowl is unique the beauty is found in the imperfection of each piece. Tamegroute pottery are true showpieces showing that even imperfect can be perfect. Tamegroute remains the only rural pottery in Morocco using oxidized copper which creates its famous green color. Its potteries are also the only location where you will find their unique forms. The process however remains much the same. Clay is dug up from the local Draa river banks, thrown by hand & fired in kilns built into steep slopes using a single firing. Antique olive green...Category
