Vintage Art Deco Style Lidded Verdigris Bronze Bowl - Style of Carl Sorensen

About the Item

A vintage art deco style lidded bowl in the style of Carl Sorensen stamped "Made in Italy" on base. The lid finial is in the form of a bronze swan in a defensive stance. The upper and lower portions of the bowl have been etched with concentric circles as had the outer section of the lid. The bowl also shows a section etched with a wave pattern. The coloration of the bowl and lid exterior is a lovely mixture of a tobacco colored bronze and green verdigris. The inside of both the bowl and lid is in polished bronze. This charming bowl would look wonderful on a coffee table or fireplace mantle. Dimensions: 5"dia x 6"h (including lid) Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. No issues observed.

    20th c., a pair of Japanese Kutani style porcelain lidded jars, stamped on Porcelaine de Paris underside of foot. The mark indicates the piece was produced in the 1970's. The jars are decorated in deep orange, tangerine and gold motifs on a white background. On one side, both jars have matching decoration depicting a scroll showing a pastoral scene. After surviving the French Revolution, Porcelaine de Paris steadily produced tableware as well as purely decorative pieces, receiving orders from all over Europe. Productivity was astonishing, creating one new model every day over 30 years!     Late 19th/Early 20th c., large Japanese Meiji bronze floor urn. The principal decoration on both sides of the vase is rendered in beautiful and strong relief. One side depicts birds, possibly skylarks, in flight and on flowering cherry blossom branches. The opposite side depicts herons wading and alighting on a flowering tree. the upper and lower portions of urn are decorated with repeating arched lozenges detailed with scrolls and flora. The urn is adorned with foo dog handles, unmarked. This is an impressive and beautiful bronze urn.
