UpGroup Excellence in Marble since 1969
With the establishment of Up & Up in 1969, marble takes on new forms and explores new applications becoming the favorite material of the greatest designers, who have transformed it into objects, furnishings, accessories, bathrooms, elegant cladding, refined inlays and exclusive workings for prestigious architectural projects. After a decade of development and growth, in 1979 Up & Up became UpGroup, a more complex reality that today stands out among the Italian excellence leaders in the production and processing of marble. The company resides in Tuscany, at the feet of the Apuan Alps, in a “middle” land between the blue sea and the whiteness of the extraordinary quarries of the Carrara area, in which Michelangelo came to personally choose the most unique and precious marbles to carry out his works. Over the long period, the company has developed important research projects on new processing technologies, taking a pioneering role towards innovative techniques that have contributed to the profound change in the roles and the way the designers work. Among these: laser cutting, a unique project developed in partnership with the CNR (National Research Council) and the universities of Pisa and Florence, thanks to which it was possible to cut and engrave the stone with extreme precision, up to a minimum thickness of 3 mm.

- Bottega Intreccio Woven Wicker 21st Century Mawa Centerpiece, by Setsu & ShinobuBy Setsu & Shinobu ItoLocated in Mogliano, MarcheMawa “A centerpiece draw its inspiration from Nature. Mawa, narrow at the base and wider towards the top, borrows its features from a flower in all its splendor.” This container reinterprets the archetype of the woven basket in a contemporary way, with ample proportions and organic asymmetrical forms. The wicker is enhanced by a leather band at the base that gives the object decorative impact. The piece is difficult to make precisely due to the asymmetrical form. Use and maintenance All the items are made with raw materials and are guaranteed for interiors. If it is necessary, they can also be installed outdoors as long as they are sufficiently protected from atmospheric agents and not directly exposed to the sunlight or water, in spaces like verandas, gazebos, arcades or protected spaces. The raw materials used for weavings could be not extremely homogeneous due to different physical properties and the items could have dimensions a bit different from descriptions listed in this document. The colors could change for the same reasons. Those features are the demonstration of authenticity of each product that is unique and handcrafted in Italy by Mogliano’s masters. Woven wicker is extremely resistant over the years, if it is stored in a dry place and without excessive temperature changes, and it could also change color or nuances due to its sunlight exposure based-on nature. The weaving by the craftsman is performed with soft and wet material, an the material dries naturally with the passage of time losing its elasticity. For this reason, avoid excessive pressures, overloads of heavy weights or impacts. The bases or wooden parts are entirely in solid wood: with the aging they could change in size and present natural micro-cracks. Avoid direct and long exposure to the sun, completely avoid wetting. About the lamp usage, in normal condition the items don’t require special maintenance. Technicals About item technical details and bulbs specifications, please refer to the technical data sheets. Cleaning Use a soft cloth for cleaning. Don’t use any chemicals, acids, scourers or steel brushes. The base in natural wood must be cleaned and dusted using a soft cloth, even slightly damp. Immediately wipe again with a soft, dry cloth. For lamps cleaning, unplug the appliance from electric power...Category

- Bottega Intreccio Shizé S Woven Wicker 21st Century Centrepiece, SetsuShinobuItoBy Setsu & Shinobu ItoLocated in Mogliano, MarcheShizé S “The centerpiece draw its inspiration from Nature. The irregular shape of Shizè comes from the stones found in rivers.” Like a big rock sitting on furnishings in the home, this container has a soft, organic form. And it plays with the contrast between the ample size of the woven wicker part and the leather-clad plate that rests on the rim of the vessel. Complex in the making due to the asymmetrical form, and for the so called “passatemorte”, passages where the strand does not complete its circuit.
