About the Item
Fine Art Deco tile tableau consisting of 10 tiles, made at Manufactures Céramiques d'Hemixem Gilliot & Cie, Hemiksem around 1925. This panel, depicting a deer, is a design by Joseph Roelants (1881-1962), who worked in Hemiksem from 1919 to 1946. The tiles are glued on chipboard and have a frame of wood. 3 tiles are broken.
The tiles are pressed into a mold with plastic clay. After drying and applying the tubeline decoration and different glaze colors, the tiles were fired in the kiln.
