Cranberry Colored Glass and Sterling Silver Mounted Claret Jug
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive contemporary cranberry colored glass and English sterling silver mounted claret jug with golfing interest; part of our wine jug collection.
This exceptional contemporary glass claret jug has a circular bulbous shaped form.
The neck of this cranberry colored glass claret jug is fitted with the original hallmarked sterling silver mount fitted with a hinged cover.
The hallmarked hinged domed cover is surmounted with an impressive cast sterling silver finial realistically modeled in the form of a frosted ball on a golf tee.
This antique glass and silver jug is fitted with a ribbed sterling silver handle accented with applied scrolling designs to the upper terminal, in junction with the plain silver mount.
The lower portion of the handle segments to form a plain wirework style support to the impressive and original cranberry colored glass body.
The handle terminal further disperses to form three golf club designs; the central club incorporates a plain ball to the club's head.
This exceptional claret jug was crafted by the renowned and collectable makers the Guild of Handicraft; also known as Hart Gold & Silversmiths.
Condition
The mount of this antique cranberry coloured glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The jug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The glass body of the jug is in perfect condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover are very clear.
