Rockingham hand painted trio pattern 958

About the Item

A very pretty Rockingham hand painted and gilded trio decorated with pattern 958. The shape is "Basket Weave", with a moulded basket weave pattern to the outside of the cups and to the base of the saucer. There are plain cartouches on either side of the cups which have been decorated with small sprays of flowers. It does have some very faint crazing and there is a very small area of light discolouration to the outside of the coffee cup-otherwise it is in superb condition. It would date from the period 1830-42.

This is a very good quality TRIO of Coffee Cup, Tea Cup and Saucer that we attribute to the Coalport porcelain works, Shropshire, England, made during the George 111rd years, circa 1815. Both cups have the London or Grecian shape with all pieces beautifully boldly hand decorated in a very colourful Imari Chinoiserie pattern, popular at the time. All pieces are unmarked to the base.
