Fine Double "C" Handled Quart Tulip Export Pewter Tankard Townsend & Compton

About the Item

A fine double "C" handled quart tulip export Pewter mug or tankard by Townsend & Compton, circa 1779-1806. Struck with makers (upside down) pseudo hallmarks, left of the handle and later with capacity and verification marks engraved with owners monogram in fine condition. The tankard measures 6 5/8" inches high x 4 9/16" inches in diameter. Townsend & Compton of London made substantial portion of the their business exporting their wares to America.
