'Paleae Brasilis' Table Lamp by Brazilian Designer Brunno Jahara
About the Item
Living in the tropics, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, made designers Ana Voss and Brunno Jahara think about a collaboration in new products with the desire to give value to a natural and universal material, straw, so much used by the native tropical people.
They have created this entire collection of objects and accessories that resume these values, called Paleae Brasilis, Latin for Brazilian straw, pieces are meant for the home and fashion.
In this collaborative project between a fashion and a product designer, both with vast professional experience, comes, as a result, new light shades, hats, shoes, baskets and bags.
Jahara has opted to draw structures in solid brass to protect and keep safe the straw shapes where custom-made baskets become hanging lamps, table lamps, using LED technology to create palm shade effects.

- Copper Serviteur Muet by Brazilian Designer Brunno JaharaBy Brunno JaharaLocated in New York, NYStacks for St. James, the collection is based on the company’s tradition of making silver plated objects and is formed by a series of trays, candlesticks, boxes and buckets to serve snacks and drinks or to be used as centre pieces to place fruits and plants. The designer was able to build the collection using shapes from other pieces and turning them into stacks of different uses and sizes. The first pieces where made in copper and later new versions in brass and nickel will be available this year. To Jahara, the simple, pure and clean lines of the objects where to enhance the basic geometric forms such as the circle, making it appear in handles to use for several functions. It’s a new way to interpret the tradition of the factory that works for more than 40 years in the luxury field by keeping the essential to it, the function and quality materials.
