19th Century French Folding Screen with Original Hand-Painted Outdoor Scene
About the Item
A French painted folding screen room divider from the 19th century. This antique accordion style folding screen from France features four tall rectangular panels, each approximately 5.75 feet in height, whose front sides are adorned with paper wrapped original hand-painted scenes of ladies and gentlemen at leisure in a outdoor setting. The backsides of the wooden panels are painted in a neoclassical display of urns. The divider has a lovely aged patina and cracking throughout, as well as some old tears- all a beautiful reflection of their rich history and age. This 19th century French painted screen will make a lovely artistic piece, adding visual interest along a wall or perhaps filing in an otherwise void corner.
