Permanente Mobili Cantù, Corner Desk in Mahogany, Italy 1950
About the Item
Grooved mahogany corner desk attributed to Paolo Buffa, edited by La Permanente Mobili Cantù, Italy 1950.
The office part forms an L and has two doors and a drawer. The double top receives a sandblasted glass slab. The upper part consists of a double shelf ending in a drop-down box, decorated on both sides with original frescoes by Pietro Toppi. A third shelf completes the device, it can be fixed as in the photo or higher, a small beveled panel decorated with a painter's palette by Toppi will hide the fixing holes on the wall panel.
Pietro Toppi, painter and sculptor, lived in the village of Cantù, and collaborated with La Permanente Mobili Cantù for special orders. This exceptional desk is most likely a unique piece.
