About the Item

A French Edwardian art nouveau flower brooch. Beautiful three-dimensional piece, created in Paris France during the Edwardian and the Art Nouveau periods, back in the 1900-1910. This beautiful orchid flower has been carefully carved from natural black onyx and mount in yellow gold of 18 karats with satin frosted finish. It is a little jewel with exquisite and exceptional details. Suited with a horizontal hinged pin bar and a mechanical hook to wear as a brooch. A round loop to wear in a chain as a pendant can be easily added. Diamonds: Mount in a six-prongs setting with one European round cut diamond of 0.75 carats, F Color, VS-2 Clarity Weight: 9.75 Grams, (10.87 Dwt). Measurements: 32 mm by 28 mm (1.26 x 1.10 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the eagle head for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold and the maker's maitre mark inside a lozange cartouche. Note: The Edwardian Jewelry Period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
