Antique Edwardian Diamond Cufflinks in Platinum over 18 Karat Yellow Gold (1901 - 1914)
A pair of Edwardian diamond cuff links; each a pierced oval mount millegrain set in platinum an old round cut diamond surrounded by 12 uncut diamonds in 18ct yellow gold, (unmarked test platinum and 18ct). Weight: 5.08 g. Size/Dimensions :cufflink head 16mm (USA 0.63 in) width 14mm (USA 0.52 in).
A beautiful pair of Edwardian platinum and 18kt yellow gold cufflinks that features 2 old Mine cut diamonds, est. 0.10ct (clarity:VS2-Si2 & G-H colour); 24 unfaceted cut diamonds, est. 0.18ct (clarity:SI2-I2 & G-H-I colour)
Edwardian - The Edwardian period of English furniture and decorative arts design is named for Edward VII (1841 – 1910) who was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Emperor of India for the brief period from 1901 until his death in 1910. It follows the Victorian period, in turn was followed by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. In Australia, designs of this period are also known as being in the Federation style.
• Millegrain - A type of jewellery setting where the stone is held is held in position by small adjacent beads of metal. This method of securing the stone was popular in the 19th century.
• Rose Cut - A flat based cut for a preious stone, leaving the surface covered with triangular facets, usu-ally 24 in total.
It was introduced in the 15th century and popular during the 16th and 17th centuries.
