About the Item
Birds design. Sealed on the back with the design studio name and number 98
We offer a small number of these original illustration designs by this design studio based in Alcoy (Spain), which could pair well or make group sets if buyers so desired. Designed to be knitted or printed on fabric, the artist has restricted the number of colors used for production purposes.
Hand-painted in gouache, the pieces were originally created for home textiles companies that during the 60’s to 80’s emerged in Alcoy (Spain) region some of them still last until today .
Before the 60’s there is a big crisis and it push the transformation on the textile industry of the region, moving from textile production to be sold as primaries materials for different uses to the specialization in home textiles and the evolution to Jacquad fabrics made with cotton and synthetic fibers with more value perceived on the consumers. This is the beginning of the international exportation of goods to third countries since Spain labor force still remains cheap compared to many European countries and EEUU.
At that time is also the birth date for a new profession, the textile designer job. Most of this collection we are now offering are designs conceived for bed blankets, beach towels or kitchen towels.
