End of 18th Century

About the Item

Figure of Breton Woman is a beautiful ink and watercolor original drawing on wire rod and watermarked paper realized at the middle of XVIII century by Jan Peter Verdussen. This original drawing, representing a woman with traditional dress and a wicker basket at her arm portrayed from the back, has a visible and diffused foxing that fortunately does not affect the beauty of the artwork. With irregular margins (above all on the corners). A cream-colored cardboard Passepartout is included, cm 49 x 34. Jan Peeter Verdussen or Jan Pieter Verdussen (Antwerpc. 1700 - Avignon,1763) was a Flemish painter, draftsman and printmaker. Son of art, he is best known for his battle scenes, incidents of camp life and equestrian paintings. He also painted wonderful country landscapes with hunting scenes, gallant companies and genre scenes of markets. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
